India cricketer Sabbhineni Meghana has announced her retirement from all forms of cricket at the age of 30. Meghana represented India in three ODIs and 17 T20Is, scoring 372 runs in total. Her last appearance for India came in October 2022 during a T20I against Thailand.
She was last seen in action playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru women (RCB-W) during the 2025 season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). She went on to score 49 off 50 balls and 61 off 41 balls in her following two innings, which also eventually became her last appearance in the 50-over format.
"As I announce my retirement from all formats of cricket as a player, my heart is overflowing with gratitude. The field has been my second home, teaching me resilience, humility, and giving me memories and friendships that I will carry for a lifetime,” wrote Meghana in a post on her Instagram account.
Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, Meghana made her international debut during a T20I against West Indies in Vijayawada in November 2016 and scored 17 off 16 balls. She later made her ODI debut in February 2022, against New Zealand in Queenstown, where she scored 4 off 14 balls.
Meghana's WPL career
"While my cricket days come to an end, my bond with cricket will never break. I will always stay deeply connected to the game and intend to dedicate my life to giving back to the sport, mentoring the next generation, and serving the game that gave me everything,” she added.
She played for Gujarat Giants in the inaugural season of the WPL in 2023 and scored 81 runs from six innings. Later, Meghana was signed by RCB and was a part of their maiden WPL title winning campaign in 2024.
