Former Australian pacer Shaun Tait has stepped down from his role as Bangladesh’s fast‑bowling coach with immediate effect, citing the need to devote more time to his growing family. His resignation brings an end to a 12‑month association with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Tait, however, clarified that this decision should not be seen as the conclusion of his relationship with Bangladesh cricket. He expressed hope of returning in some capacity, whether with the national team or in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

"My 12 months with the BCB and the Bangladesh national team was fulfilling," Tait told ESPNcricinfo. "I want to thank the BCB. I really enjoyed working with the players. I have a great relationship with the fast bowling group. They were good to work with and I created some really good relationships in Bangladesh, around the cricketing community in general.

"I don't think that'll be the closed door on my time in the country. There's obviously BPL and what not. You never know what the future holds. But for the time being, my young family need a bit more of my time. So, the full-time role of year-round red and white-ball cricket, my 12 months was enough and it's time to just step back and give my family a little bit more time."

Tait had joined the Bangladesh senior men’s team in May last year, replacing former New Zealand international Andre Adams. At the time of his appointment, it was announced that he would remain in the role until November 2027. His departure, therefore, comes well ahead of schedule, leaving the BCB to reassess its coaching structure for the fast‑bowling unit.

During Tait's tenure, Bangladesh humbled Pakistan twice in Test cricket, winning two remarkable series, on home turf and away. With Nahid Rana, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam fit and firing, Bangladesh's pace battery looks stronger than it has ever been, and a lot of credit needs to go Tait's way.
