India left-arm spinner Sree Charani has risen to the top of the ICC T20I bowling rankings amid her stellar performance in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Charani takes over England’s Lindsey Smith to occupy the top spot with 753 ratings to her name.

The India spinner is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament so far, with 10 wickets to her name from three innings at an average of 6.40 and an economy of 5.33. The 21-year-old started the tournament with a match-winning three-wicket haul against Pakistan, registering figures of 3/21 in four overs.

She further picked up 4/19 against the Netherlands, guiding India to a 95-run victory. Shree Charani also bamboozled South Africa with another three-wicket haul (3/24), albeit in a losing cause.

The left-arm spinner has already become the joint-highest wicket taker for India in a single edition of the T20 World Cup alongside Poonam Yadav, who also scalped ten wickets in the 2020 edition of the tournament.

The left-arm spinner made her T20I debut in 2025 against England and has 38 wickets to her name from 23 innings at an average of 16.55 and an economy of 7.32.

Shafali Verma rises in batting rankings

Meanwhile, Linsey Smith slipped to third in the bowling rankings after a quiet start to the T20 World Cup. Her England teammate and fellow spinner Charlie Dean climbed to No. 2, having taken five wickets across three matches in the tournament.

In the batting rankings, Australia opener Georgia Voll retained the No. 1 spot, while India opener Shafali Verma moved up one place to sixth. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur also gained a spot to break into the top 10 at No. 10.

The T20I all-rounders' rankings remained unchanged, with West Indies captain Hayley Matthews continuing her reign at the top, followed by New Zealand captain Melie Kerr in second place.
