SL W vs PAK W: Sri Lanka women mildly press reset button, blood in youngsters for T20Is against Pakistan

Sri Lanka have mildly pressed the reset button in the shortest format of the game in search of a better result in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan, announcing a 15-player squad, including maiden call-ups for teenagers Sanjana Kavindi and Chamudi Praboda.

Kavindi, 17, is a left-handed batter, whereas Praboda is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. Both players were a part of Sri Lanka's U19 squads in the recently concluded white-ball series against India U19. The 19-year-old seam-bowling allrounder Rashmika Sewwandi has also been recalled. Sewwandi has played two ODIs and six T20Is.

Middle-order batter Hansima Karunaratne and pacers Mithali Ayodhya and Chethana Vimukthi have been shown the exit in the aftermath of a disappointing T20 World Cup campaign in England.

The core remains intact. Skipper Chamari Athapaththu, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Hasini Perera and Vishmi Gunaratne will be expected to shoulder the burden of run-scoring. The presence of allrounder Kavisha Dilhari, Nilakshika Silva and wicketkeeper-batter Kaushini Nuthyangana bolsters the batting line-up.

Seamers Kawya Kavindi and Malki Madara will be tasked with making an early dent with the new ball, whereas Sugandika Kumari will be in charge of the spin-bowling department.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will be without their designated captain Fatima Sana as she has been relieved from national duty to participate in the women's Hundred for Birmingham Phoenix. Muneeba Ali Siddiqui will lead the side in her absence. Pakistan have made as many as eight changes to their squad which played at the T20 World Cup.
