South Africa women have announced their squad for the historic maiden tour of Zimbabwe. The Proteas women will tour the country to play a five-match T20I series for the first time in their history.
Laura Wolvaardt continues to lead the team, which will feature several new faces, including three uncapped players. Seamer Caitlin Wyngaard, who impressed during the SA Emerging Women’s recent tour of Bangladesh, has earned her maiden national call-up.
The 21-year-old has been joined by former SA U19 Women starlet Nthabiseng Nini and off-spinner Luyanda Nzuza, who also produced standout performances for their team.
The uncapped trio will be joined by Faye Tunnicliffe, Anneke Bosch, Ayanda Hlubi, Eliz-Mari Marx, Seshnie Naidu, Nondumiso Shangase and Miané Smit, all of whom missed the recent ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England.
The squad is further strengthened by wicketkeeper-batters Sinalo Jafta and Karabo Meso, along with all-rounders Kayla Reyneke and Annerie Dercksen.
The five-match T20I series begins on September 11, with all five matches set to be played at Queen’s Sports Club in Bulawayo.
