Sri Lanka name squad for Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026

Sri Lanka have announced their 15-member squad for the Women's T20 Asia Cup starting later this month in Dubai, making three changes to the side which took on Pakistan in a three-match T20I series at home recently.

Leg-spinner Dewmi Vihanga has earned her maiden T20I call-up. The 21-year-old walks into the team in place of left-arm spinner Nimasha Meepage. Vihanga has claimed 17 wickets in 12 ODIs, averaging 27.47 at an economy rate of 4.67. She has a career-best of 5/43, which came against South Africa.

Right-arm pacer Mithali Ayodhya and fellow medium pacer Chethana Vimukthi have also been drafted into the squad at the expense of  Malki Madara, seam-bowling allrounder Rashmika Sewwandi.

The Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026 is an eight-team event. There are two groups of four each, and Sri Lanka find themselves in Group B alongside Bangladesh, Indonesia and United Arab Emirates. Sri Lanka are the defending champions, having beaten India in the final of the previous iteration by eight wickets at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on July 28, 2024.

Sri Lanka will begin their campaign on August 29 against United Arab Emirates on August 29 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
