Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has been recalled to the Test squad for the first match against West Indies. Taskin was rested for the one-off Test against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi earlier this month. The right-arm seamer has replaced Khaled Ahmed in the line-up.
Soumya Sarkar has been excluded from the 15-man squad. The batting all-rounder didn't feature in the playing XI against Afghanistan and hasn't played a Test since February 2021, despite being in the squads for the Tests in Australia and against Afghanistan.
Star batter Litton Das has made his comeback to the national side after missing the ODI tri-series in the UAE due to a hip injury. Bangladesh were knocked out of the tri-nation tournament after losing both of their fixtures.
All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has also been selected after recovering from a viral fever. He missed Bangladesh's opening match of the UAE tri-series but played in the next game.
Bangladesh have named three specialist spinners in Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam and Nayeem Hasan. The pace attack, alongside Taskin Ahmed, features Shoriful Islam, Ebadot Hossain and Hasan Mahmud. Nahid Rana remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from a side strain.
First Test begins on October 28
The batting line-up remains largely unchanged and will have a place for Towhid Hridoy, who recently struck a first-class triple century in South Africa. He was also part of Bangladesh’s squad for the Afghanistan Test, but he did not feature in the playing XI. Meanwhile, Jaker Ali is looking to make his return to Test cricket, having last played in June 2025.
The two-match Test series against West Indies begins in Dhaka on October 28, while the second Test will be played in Sylhet from November 5.
