Team India Schedule for Asian Games 2026: Men’s & Women’s Cricket

The history of cricket in the Asian Games dates back to 2010, when the sport made its debut at the quadrennial event. Bangladesh won the gold medal in the inaugural men’s event, while Pakistan took the honours in the women’s event.

Later in 2014, Sri Lanka won the men’s event, while Pakistan defended their title in the women’s event. However, India didn’t participate until the 2022 edition of the tournament, which was held in 2023 due to COVID-19.

The Asian Giants showed immediate supremacy in the event, winning the gold medals across both men’s and women’s categories in their maiden appearance. The Men in Blue were declared winners, being the higher-seeded side after the final against Afghanistan was washed out.

On the other hand, India women beat Sri Lanka women by 19 runs to clinch the gold medal. As India march into another edition of the Asian Games, they enter as sure-shot favourites to defend their title.

In the upcoming men’s event, a total of ten teams will be competing for the gold medal. India have been given a direct entry into the quarter-finals, along with Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The remaining six teams have been divided into two groups, with Afghanistan, Japan and Nepal being a part of Group A, while Hong Kong China, Malaysia and Oman are in Group B.

On the other hand, the women’s competition will begin with direct quarter-finals, with Bangladesh, China, Pakistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Japan competing alongside India.
