Bangladesh have picked Towhid Hridoy in the Test squad for the one-off match against Afghanistan to be played in the UAE, beginning on October 9. Hridoy made his debut against Zimbabwe in July and recently slammed a record-breaking 350 not out for Bangladesh A against South Africa A in an unofficial Test in Potchefstroom.

Jaker Ali has also been brought back into the side, while Amite Hasan, who made his Test debut in Zimbabwe in July before getting picked for the Australia tour where he didn't play any game, has been dropped.

The selectors have been cautious about fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana, who’re likely to be available from October 10, according to chief selector Habibul Bashar.

Nahid has been out of action since suffering a side strain in Zimbabwe in July. On the other hand, Taskin, who last played against Australia, hasn’t been picked to manage his workload.

"Nahid Rana is available from October 10, so till then we will consider him as ruled out. We want him to be available for the Tests against West Indies and the rest of the 2026-27 season. We are still considering whether he will play the ODIs in the tri-series or he will play in the domestic competitions to get back into the groove," Bashar was quoted as saying by Cricinfo.

Off-spinner Nayeem Hasan and fast bowlers Musfik Hasan and Iqbal Hossain Emon will travel with the side as reserves. Meanwhile, Afghanistan, who're the hosts for the series, haven't announced the venue yet for the one-off Test.
