Trent Rockets clinch maiden Women's Hundred title, beating Sunrisers Leeds by 8 wickets

Trent Rockets won the Women’s Hundred 2026 with an 8-wicket victory over Sunrisers Leeds in the final on Sunday, August 16 at Lord's, London. After Rockets captain Ashleigh Gardner won the toss and opted to bowl first, their decision was vindicated by their bowlers, who got Sunrisers Leeds bundled out for just 91 in 91 balls.

It was a collective bowling effort from Trent Rockets with Georgia Adams (2/9, 15 balls), Charley Phillips (2/12, 15 balls), Samantha Bates (2/17, 16 balls) and Kim Garth (2/18, 15 balls) scalped two wickets each for their team, while Gardner (1/23, 15 balls) also chipped in with one wicket.

Annabel Sutherland (25 off 23) emerged as the top scorer from Sunrisers, while captain Danielle Gibson (22 off 16) was the only other batter to cross the 20-run mark. In reply, Trent completed the run chase without breaking much sweat as Sophia Dunkley (41 off 23) and Beth Mooney (31* off 21) got them off to a terrific start.

The duo added 69 runs for the first wicket off just 40 balls, putting their team into a commanding position and setting up a perfect platform to complete the run chase. While Dunkley missed out on her half-century, falling prey to Danielle Gibson (1/9, 5 balls), Mooney went on to bat through the innings, finishing the game alongside captain Ashleigh Gardner (9* off 8).

As a result, Trent Rockets completed the run chase in just 54 balls to clinch their maiden Women's Hundred title in their first-ever appearance in the final. Meanwhile, Georgia Adams was adjudged Player of the Match for her bowling figures of 2/19 in 15 balls. She got the prized scalp of Annabel Sutherland and Kate Cross. 

On the other hand, Annabel Sutherland was adjudged MVP of the tournament for finishing as the leading run scorer with 315 runs to her name from nine innings at an average of 63 and a strike rate of 152.91 with two fifties.
