Updated WTC Points Table after Bangladesh's emphatic win over Australia in Darwin

Bangladesh registered an emphatic nine-wicket win over Australia at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin on August 16, etching their name in the history books. They became the third Asian team to register a Test win on Australian soil after India and Pakistan. This is only Bangladesh's second win over the Aussies. The Bangla Tigers had beaten Australia by 20 runs in Mirpur in August 2017.

Bangladesh have also become the fastest Asian team to register a red-ball win on Aussie soil. This was only their third Test appearance in Australia. It took Pakistan seven matches to clinch their maiden win, whereas Team India took 12 Tests to register their first-ever win. Bangladesh now have a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The second match will be played at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay, starting August 22.

This is only Bangladesh's second Test win in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia). They had beaten the Kiwis by eight wickets at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui in January 2022. 

Cameron Green scored a brilliant century (104) in the second innings off 201 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six to ensure Australia were not humbled by an innings. It was his ton that helped Australia put a total of 56 on the board to defend. 

However, it proved to be enough, as Mominul Haque (30*) and Shadman Islam (25*) helped their side gallop towards it and seal a comfortable win. Hasan Mahmud (9/111) was adjudged the Player of the Match (POTM) for his scintillating performance.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh have consolidated their fourth spot on the points table. They have accumulated a points percentage (PCT) of 66.67. This is Australia's second loss in the ongoing cycle. But they are still on top with a PCT of 77.78, with seven wins and two losses in nine games.
