Updated WTC points table after Dinusha's resilience help Sri Lanka draw 2nd Test vs India

Sonal Dinusha’s grit tired India out on the fifth and final day of the second Test at Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, as the two teams settled for a draw. The hosts finished their second innings on 429/9, leading by 216 runs. Dinusha slammed his second hundred of the Test match, playing a magnificent knock of an unbeaten 133* (264) laced with eight fours and two sixes.

He became the third batter after Vijay Hazare and Andy Flower to score a hundred in each innings of a Test, with the second one coming while following on. Dinusha is also the ninth player to score three centuries in a two-match series and the third Sri Lankan to achieve the feat.

He had the support of Keshara Nuwantha (46 off 150) and Lahiru Kumara (12 off 90) at the crease, who held one end as Dinusha unleashed his carnage once again on India. Their bowlers threw everything at Sri Lanka but could only get three wickets from 81.2 overs as Ravindra Jadeja (3/94) struck twice while Manav Suthar (3/121) got one wicket.

As a result, Sri Lanka managed to eke out a draw for the first time after being enforced to follow-on against India, having lost on the previous eight occasions. Despite the draw, India won the series 1-0, having won the first Test in Galle by 165 runs.

It was also their first Test series win away from home under Shubman Gill. After the draw, India maintained fifth position in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table for the 2025-27 cycle with a win percentage of 51.52%, while Sri Lanka maintained sixth position with a win percentage of 33.33 percent.
