Pakistan off-spinner Usman Tariq has been signed by Warwickshire to play in the T20 blast competition in England. The 28-year-old will be available for the full tournament before playing in the Hundred, where he will also be based at Edgbaston with Birmingham Phoenix.
Tariq has rapidly risen through the ranks after making his debut in the National T20 cup in 2023. After making headlines for his unique action, he earned his maiden Pakistan call-up and made his T20I debut against South Africa in November 2025.

Tariq has scalped 18 wickets from nine matches in his T20I career so far, boasting a phenomenal average of 11.16 and a miserly economy of 6.66 with best figures of 4/16. Apart from the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he has also played in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), International League T20 (ILT20) and Abu Dhabi T10, and is now all set for his first stint in county cricket.
Commenting on Tariq’s signing, Warwickshire's performance director, James Thomas, extolled the spinner, calling him a genuine threat to batters in modern-day cricket.
"Usman is exactly the type of high-impact player we want to bring into Warwickshire, so we're delighted to get this deal completed. His skill set and tactical awareness make him a genuine threat in modern white-ball cricket, but it's his hunger to compete and continually improve that really stands out,” said Thomas as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
Can't wait to get involved with the squad: Tariq
Tariq also expressed his excitement ahead of playing for Warwickshire, saying it's a ‘great feeling’ to be a part of the team.
"I am very excited to bring more fun and energy to the Bears. I can't wait to get involved with the squad, and it's a great feeling to be part of this team. I hope to see as many people as possible at Edgbaston this summer,” said Tariq.
Tariq recently played for Quetta Gladiators in the PSL 2026, where he scalped nine wickets from ten innings. Meanwhile, ahead of the upcoming season, Warwickshire have also added Jordan Thompson to their squad, while Beau Webster will be the other overseas player, alongside Tariq. The T20 blast competition will begin on May 22, with all 18 teams competing on the opening day.
