Vaibhav Sooryavanshi namedrops teammate he vibes with best in Indian dressing room

After experiencing a baptism of fire in his debut international series in England, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi turned the tide in his favour by taking Zimbabwe’s bowlers to task and guiding India to a clinical 3‑0 win in Harare.

Sooryavanshi looked highly assured at the crease and registered two fifties. The southpaw aggregated 151 runs in three innings, averaging 50.33 at a blistering strike rate of 196.10. He was adjudged Player of the Series after finishing as the highest run‑scorer, smashing 15 fours and nine sixes.

It is still early days for the 15‑year‑old in international cricket, but he revealed that he has not felt out of place in Team India. He namedropped Ishan Kishan as the teammate he vibes with best in the dressing room.

“With the seniors around me, I never felt lonely or out of place coming into the senior team. It feels just like playing regular matches anywhere else. Plus, seniors like Ishan bhaiya, he is also from my home state Bihar, so our vibe matches really well,” Sooryavanshi said in a video shared by the BCCI on social media platforms.

The southpaw was jubilant after India’s commanding win. He credited India’s head coach on the Zimbabwe tour, VVS Laxman, and coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar for their inputs and the role they played in his mental conditioning for the series.

“Playing for senior India and winning the Player of the Match and Player of the Series- that dream has come true, and I am very happy. I would like to thank everyone who supported me on my journey. The seniors are like this, and the coaching staff as well. The way our head coach, VVS sir, and Hrishi sir spoke to me before the matches- they discussed a lot with me about what I was feeling at that time, before the series started, what I was thinking, and what mindset I was in. They gave me a free hand and told me to just play freely and not overthink,” Sooryavanshi said.
