West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has withdrawn from the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh following a routine medical assessment and special consultation. Cricket West Indies (CWI) has decided to manage his workload to prevent injuries associated with the physical demands of red-ball cricket, as per the agreement with the fast bowler.

White-ball captain Shai Hope has been rested for the tour, while 23-year-old batter Kevin Wickham has received his maiden Test call-up. Wickham earned his place on the back of a prolific run in the 2026 West Indies Championship where he scored three consecutive centuries with a best of 153.

The youngster has hit six first-class centuries from 25 matches, having scored 1472 runs at an average of 40.88. Opening batter John Campbell marks his return after recovering from the hamstring injury that ruled him out of the Pakistan series at home.

Meanwhile, Alzarri Joseph will remain available for the shorter formats, Cricket West Indies have confirmed. In his place, all-rounder Keemo Paul has been called up for the Bangladesh Test series.

Test series begins on October 28

The upcoming two-match Test series will be the last assignment for West Indies in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle 2025-27. With a win in the upcoming series, West Indies could climb to six in the ICC Test rankings after the current cycle, having finished the previous 2023-2025 cycle ranked 8th.

The full squad will arrive in Bangladesh on 18 October and will take part in a three-day warm-up match in Dhaka from 22 to 24 October. The two-match Test series starts on October 28 in Dhaka, while the second Test will be played from November 5-9 in Sylhet.
