When is India’s next T20I match? Full schedule and opponent

Team India registered a 3‑0 whitewash over Zimbabwe in a three‑match series in their backyard. The win was much needed for the reigning T20 world champions, as it snapped a seven‑match winless streak for the team and for newly appointed captain Shreyas Iyer.

Iyer endured a 2‑0 heartbreak in Ireland, which was India’s first‑ever series loss to them. He then suffered a 4‑0 drubbing in England, where the Harry Brook‑led side proved too strong to tame.

The series against Zimbabwe brought many positives for the Men in Blue. India unleashed a new‑look pace battery comprising Mayank Yadav, Ashok Sharma, and Yash Thakur, alongside Prince Yadav, who played the first two games before suffering a hamstring injury in the third T20I.

Mayank and Ashok bowled consistently above 140 kph and rattled the Zimbabwe batters throughout the series. Mayank finished as the leading wicket‑taker with five wickets, averaging 14.40 at an economy rate of 6.54.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Player of the Series performance was perhaps the biggest positive. The 15‑year‑old displayed remarkable maturity, which even left head coach VVS Laxman impressed.

India can now enjoy a little over two weeks of rest before travelling to Sri Lanka for a two‑match Test series, part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2025‑27 cycle.

However, India’s T20I side will not be in action for the next month and a half. The Men in Blue’s next T20I assignment is not a bilateral series but the Asian Games, slated to begin on September 24 in Nagoya, Japan.

It is a 10‑team event. India, along with arch‑rivals Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, have earned direct entries into the quarterfinals. 

Afghanistan, Nepal, and hosts Japan have been placed in Group A, while Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Oman are in Group B. The top two sides from each group will join India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, the direct qualifiers, in the quarterfinals.
