Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi was involved in a controversial dismissal against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) during Match 38 of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) on Sunday, April 26, at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Raghuvanshi was adjudged out obstructing the field during the fifth over of the first innings.

The 21-year-old was looking for a quick single as he played Prince Yadav towards mid-on. However, he was denied the run by his partner at the crease, Cameron Green. As a result, Raghuvanshi had to quickly rush back to the striker’s end and put in a dive to save his wicket.

In the process, the throw hit him, and the LSG players went up for an appeal for obstructing the field. The decision was referred to the third umpire Rohan Pandit, and the replays showed that there was a slight change in his running direction from Raghuvanshi as he ran back to save his wicket.

As a result, he was adjudged out and was visibly disappointed as both Green and Raghuvanshi were seen arguing with the umpire. After returning to the dugout, he hit the bat on the floor and threw away his helmet in frustration.

Even the KKR camp expressed its displeasure as assistant coach Shane Watson was visibly annoyed. Head coach Abhishek Nayar was also seen in an animated chat with the fourth umpire.

As the replays continued on broadcast, the commentators explained that since Raghuvanshi had to turn around and run, it was difficult for him to be on the same path. Moreover, the batters are also not allowed to run on the pitch, which made the KKR batter shift to the green side.

Both Green and Raghuvanshi were seen explaining the same to the on-field umpires. However, none of it had any effect as the decision had already been made. Following his dismissal, KKR were left reeling at 27/3 in five overs.

Meanwhile, Raghuvanshi became the fourth batter to be dismissed obstructing the field in IPL history after Yusuf Pathan, Amit Mishra and Ravindra Jadeja. He's the second from KKR after Yusuf Pathan was dismissed in a similar manner in 2013.
