Women's Premier League 2027 dates confirmed, auction to be held on 28th October

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the auction date for the Women’s Premier League 2027 (WPL 2027). The bidding event for the fifth edition of the tournament will be held on 28th October 2026 at the Grand Hyatt Kochi.
The five franchises have been given the deadline of 28 September 2026 to announce their list of retained and released players. It will be a mini-auction this time, after 73 slots were filled at the mega-auction in Delhi for the last season.
Each squad can have up to 18 players, of whom a maximum of six can be overseas players. The salary cap for the current cycle is INR 15 crore. There is no cap on the number of players that can be retained. On the other hand, the tournament is scheduled to be played from 14 January to 7 February 2027.
How did the last auction go?
Deepti Sharma was the most expensive player at last year’s mega-auction, with UP Warriorz securing her services for INR 3.2 crore. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians signed Melie Kerr for INR 3 crore, while Shikha Pandey fetched INR 2.4 crore from UP Warriorz.
At the mini-auction, Kashvee Gautam holds the record for the highest bid, with Gujarat Giants paying INR 2 crore for her at the WPL 2024 auction. She was followed by Simran Shaikh, whose services were acquired by UP Warriorz for INR 1.9 crore at the WPL 2025 auction.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will enter the event as defending champions, having won their second title in 2026 after beating Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final.
