The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) have suffered a setback today as Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland respectively will not participate in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 due to personal reasons.

Indian pace-bowling all-rounder Sayali Satghare will replace Perry at RCB while spin prodigy Alana King has been signed up by DC to replace her countrywoman. Satghare will be paid her base price of INR 30 lakh (3 million) and King will get INR 60 lakh (6 million) at the Delhi-based franchise.

For RCB, the absence of Perry will be a huge blow to their plans as the Australian veteran all-rounder is a proven match-winner. The 35-year-old has been consistent with the bat throughout all the three seasons of the league, scoring 253 runs in 2023, 347 runs in 2024 (Orange Cap winner), and 372 runs in 2025. With the ball, she has been more than handy picking up 14 wickets across 20 innings. Notably, the Bengaluru franchise had retained her for INR 2 crore (20 million) prior to the upcoming season.

Sutherland had a decent previous season, scalping nine victims in same number of matches at 27.88 runs per wicket. The 24-year-old showed improvement in her economy rates last season and was starting to become a key member of the team. The all-rounder was retained for INR 2.2 crore (22 million) ahead of WPL 2026.

Charli Knott replaces Tara Norris at UP Warriorz

American Tara Norris will not be able to turn up for her WPL franchise after being selected for her national team for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal. The global tournament starts from January 18 and runs until February 1, impacting the 24-year-old's availability heavily.

As a result, the Warriorz replaced her with uncapped Australian batting all-rounder Knott for her reserve price of INR 10 lakh (1 million). The 23-year-old from Queensland will be a part of the league for the first time.

WPL 2026 begins on January 9 with local team Mumbai Indians taking on RCB in Navi Mumbai.
