WTC Final 2027: Schedule & Venue Details

The ICC World Test Championship final returns to The Oval for the second time in history as the winner of the ongoing 2025-27 cycle will be crowned at the iconic venue.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) had awarded the hosting rights for the next three finals (2027, 2029, 2031) to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). However, the decision to finalise the venue for the summit clash was left to the ECB.

The final of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (2025-27) cycle will be played at The Oval from Wednesday 9 to Sunday 13 June, 2027.

The Oval had also played host to the final of the WTC 2021-23 cycle, with Australia thrashing India by 209 runs riding on the back of a counterattacking hundred (163) by Travis Head in the first innings.

“We are honoured to be staging the next three ICC World Test Championship Finals in England and Wales, and we’re pleased to confirm that The Oval will play host again next year. The 2023 final at The Oval was a huge hit with broadcasters and fans, and I’ve no doubt that next year’s event will be extra special again,” said ECB Managing Director, Competitions and Major Events, Neil Snowball.

“This promises to be another fantastic opportunity for cricket fans in this country and from around the world to see the best two Test teams in the world from the past two years taking each other on in a showpiece event.” 

All three previous WTC finals have been played in England. The final of the inaugural edition was held in a biosecure bubble in Southampton, where New Zealand beat India by eight wickets. South Africa got the better of Australia in the 2025 final at Lord's by five wickets.
