After a dominating win in the series opener, India will take on Afghanistan in the second T20I with an aim to seal the series on Tuesday, September 15 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The Men in Blue had a brilliant start to the series as they stamped their authority on Afghanistan, registering a comprehensive seven-wicket win.
A complete all-round bowling display, barring some expensive figures from Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shivam Dube, helped India restrict Afghanistan to a paltry score of 156/8. In the second innings, Abhishek Sharma (82 off 32) was at his explosive best, smashing seven fours and as many sixes as India chased down the target in 13.4 overs.
Afghanistan had a complete top-order failure before Azmatullah Omarzai (64 off 44) and Mohammad Nabi (33 off 27) rescued their innings with an 83-run stand off 56 balls for the sixth wicket. Later with the ball, the hosts were all over the place amid the onslaught from Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan.
With a quick turnaround for the second T20I, Afghanistan won’t have much time to address their issues and need to quickly learn from their mistakes to make a strong comeback in the upcoming fixture.
