Match Preview

After registering a historic win in the T20I series, India will now aim to register another milestone as they take on Australia in the first match of the ODI leg of the tour on Tuesday, February 24, at the Gabba in Brisbane. It will be the first outing for the Women in Blue as the World Champions, after attaining the World Cup glory on their home soil in November 2025.

Having been crowned the World champions, India will now aim to add another feather in their cap by defeating Australia in a bilateral series for the first time in their history. The Women in Blue don’t have a great record against the mighty Aussies in their ODI history, having won just 12 out of 61 matches played between the two teams.

Whereas in Australia, India have won just four out of 19 matches with the last victory coming in 2021. Hence, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will be determined to turn the history around in the upcoming series and continue their winning momentum since the World Cup victory.

On the other hand, Australia will look to avenge their World Cup semi-final loss against the same opposition by giving them a hammering in their own backyard. The series holds significant importance for their captain, Alyssa Healy, who will be retiring after the rubber.  Hence, Australia will look to give a winning farewell to their legendary captain.
