Match Preview
New Zealand (NZ) and South Africa (SA) clash in the second T20I of the five-match series at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Tuesday, March 17.
The home team suffered a massive failure with the bat after deciding to have the first turn. In bowler-friendly conditions in Mount Maunganui, the Kiwis were bowled out for just 91 runs as the inexperienced Proteas attack made the most of the assistance on offer. In response, the visitors got home with ease, thus taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

The conditions at Seddon Park are expected to be very much in favour of the batters though. The average first innings total here is 167 and going by the recent matches in the domestic circuit at this venue, it looks like the batters will be able to score runs freely.
When it comes to the team news, Ish Sodhi has been ruled out of the series due to a broken thumb while Bevon Jacobs is out of this match at least after suffering a knee injury. For South Africa, Jordan Hermann may not be available as the left-hand batter would likely require more rest to recover from a hamstring strain.

NZ vs SA: Players to watch out for
Jimmy Neesham (NZ):
Neesham is a proven performer and the all-rounder is in good touch on the whole. The 35-year-old scored a much-needed 26 in the first match when the specialist batters failed to fire. Moreover, Neesham the bowler recently picked up a three-wicket haul in the T20 World Cup 2026 final which applied brakes to the rapid scoring rate of the Indians for a brief period.
Nqobani Mokoena (SA):
Mokoena had a dream debut for South Africa in the previous match, rattling the New Zealand lower order with a three-wicket haul. The right-arm pacer showed maturity and skill to produce impressive figures of 3/26 off 3.3 overs. The 19-year-old is expected to come good again though it might be a challenge for him at the batting-friendly Seddon Park.
Today's Match Prediction: South Africa to win
