Match Preview
Having lost the series opener by 37 runs, Pakistan will aim to make a comeback as they take on South Africa in the second ODI of the three-match series on Wednesday, February 25 at Super Sport Park, Centurion. Asked to chase a target of 261 in the rain-curtailed 41-over game, Pakistan were bundled out for 223 in 38.5 overs despite remarkable knocks from Sidra Amin (68 off 69) and Ayesha Zafar (81 off 94).
However, following their massive 126-run partnership for the third wicket, the rest of the batters failed to occupy the crease as Pakistan ended up losing their last eight wickets for 92 runs in 89 balls. Despite a spirited effort in the first ODI, the Fatima Sana-led side can’t afford any more lapses in the second fixture with the series on the line.

The Women in Green don’t boast a good record against South Africa, having won just six out of the 33 matches played between the two teams. While Pakistan may not be counted amongst the best teams in women’s cricket, their fight in the first ODI must’ve ignited a belief in their group that they can compete with the runner ups of the World Cup.
Pakistan need to carry that belief into the upcoming fixture and give another strong show in the second ODI. On the other hand, South Africa will aim for another clinical performance to close out the series and carry the winning momentum from the T20I leg.

Players to watch out for:
Nadine de Klerk
The all rounder is one of the most reliable players in women’s cricket. Klerk had a quiet outing with the bat in the first ODI, being dismissed for 1 (3). She will be hungry for a big score in the upcoming fixture.
Nashra Sandhu
The left—arm spinner was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan in the opening fixture, having registered figures of 2/45 in nine overs. Come the second ODI, Pakistan would need to her to be at her best again to save the series.
