Match Preview
It’s time for the two heavyweights of the T20 World Cup 2026 to collide as West Indies and South Africa are set to lock horns in Match 47 of the tournament on Thursday, February 26, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams have had a smooth campaign in the tournament so far, having won all of their matches.
South Africa are coming into the match after hammering the favourites India and are just another victory away from almost sealing their spot in the semi-final. The Aiden Markram-led side has shown great heart in their campaign so far and seems determined to exorcise the ghosts from the 2024 final with a maiden triumph.

On the other hand, under the tutelage of former two-time World Cup winner Darren Sammy, West Indies are out to emulate the magical script of 2016 on the same soil that witnessed their last peak in international cricket. The Shai Hope-led side has been on a rampage in their campaign so far and would be eyeing a semi-final spot with another clinical win against the Proteas.
The upcoming fixture promises to be the most exhilarating clash of the tournament, with the two best teams set to give their all to almost secure a semi-final spot for themselves.

WI vs SA Playing XI Prediction
West Indies
Brandon King, Shai Hope (c & wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd, Jason Holder, Matthew Forde, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph
South Africa
Aiden Markram (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Ryan Rickelton, Dewald Brevis, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi
Players to watch out for:
Quinton de Kock
The wicketkeeper batter came into the tournament on the back of some rich form with the bat, but hasn’t been able to replicate that in the event so far, having scored just one half-century from five innings. Having been quiet for the last three innings, de Kock is due for a big one, and Thursday presents the perfect occasion for him to rise to the occasion and take down the West Indies.
Gudakesh Motie
The left-arm spinner has left the batters befuddled with his variations so far in the tournament and is the joint third-highest wicket-taker of the tournament. Motie is coming fresh from a four-wicket haul against Zimbabwe and will be eager to put up another strong performance against the Proteas to take his team a step closer to the semi-final.
Today’s Match Prediction: South Africa to win
