Star India batter Ajinkya Rahane is one of the few players who have been a part of the Indian Premier League since its inception in 2008. The Maharashtra-born cricketer was picked up by the Mumbai Indians (MI) for the first season and stayed with the franchise until 2009. Rahane couldn’t leave his mark in the IPL until 2012 when he switched bases to the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

During his second season for the franchise, he scored 560 runs from 16 innings, finishing as the fourth-highest run scorer of the tournament. For the next three years, he became an integral part of the Rajasthan Royals, batting with his consistent run scoring.

Ahead of the 2016 season, he was bought by the Rising Pune Super Giants and played for the franchise for two years. Rahane had his first taste of leadership in the IPL during 2018 and found immediate success, guiding Rajasthan Royals to the playoffs.

However, he was removed from the leadership position midway through the 2019 season after RR’s poor beginning to the edition. Rahane was later acquired by Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the 2020 season, where he had a torrid time with the bat.

The 37-year-old has plied his trade for Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) over the past four seasons and will be seen leading KKR in IPL 2026. IPL 2023 was the only season when Rahane was a part of a winning side as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clinched their fifth title.
