Axar Patel began his Indian Premier League (IPL) journey with Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2013. However, the all-rounder didn’t get a game, but tasted the success in his very first season, winning the title while warming the bench. Patel was released by MI ahead of auction for the 2014 season, where he got picked up by Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Axar made his IPL debut for Punjab in 2014 and made an immediate impact by taking 17 wickets and also showcased his batting talent, scoring a valuable 42* in one innings. Patel continued to flourish at Punjab, becoming a genuine all-rounder for his team, improving his skills year after year.

After playing five seasons for PBKS, Patel was bought by the Delhi Capitals at the 2019 auction. The southpaw had a few tough seasons at his new franchise until finally finding his groove in 2021, where he scalped 15 wickets. From 2022 onwards, Patel became a constant contributor with both bat and ball for Delhi, as his stature grew in world cricket.

He was handed over the captaincy duties of the franchise in 2025, and Delhi started the season well under his leadership, winning six out of the first eight fixtures. However, the franchise lost its way in the second half of the tournament, winning just one out of its last six matches and missed the playoffs.

As Axar enters the upcoming IPL season, with an aim to turn Delhi’s fortunes, here’s a look at his IPL salary history.
