Ishan Kishan IPL Salary: Year-wise earnings from 2016 to 2026

Ishan Kishan entered the IPL arena in 2016 after coming into the spotlight with his impressive captaincy in the Under-19 World Cup 2016. The Gujarat Lions bought the youngster for his base price of INR 35 lakh and Kishan had a decent stint with the now-defunct franchise, scoring 319 runs from 15 innings.

The turnaround in Kishan's career came in 2018 when the Bihar boy was acquired by Mumbai Indians for INR 6.20 crore. The southpaw became a long-term player for the IPL heavyweights and became a key contributor across the seven editions. His best season came in 2020, the year MI won their fifth and latest title. The left-hander contributed with 516 runs from 13 innings at an average of 57.33 and a strike rate of 145.76 including four half centuries.

Kishan was growing as a player and was knocking on the doors of the Indian team now. A couple of years later, MI released the batter but bought him back for INR 15.25 crore ahead of the 2022 season. Kishan's next best season for the Reliance-owned franchise came in 2023 under the new contract, in a way repaying the faith shown by the team management. The following season though, the left-hander's form dipped and controversies surrounding his commitment to the national team led to him being released by MI before the mega auction for IPL 2025.

Sunrisers Hyderabad came into the fray and bought the swashbuckling batter for INR 11.25 crore. Kishan impressed the Orange Army in his very first match, scoring a magnificent unbeaten 106 against Rajasthan Royals at home. The southpaw, however, did not have a great season thereafter as he could only muster 248 runs in 12 innings. Ahead of the 2026 season, Kishan was named the interim captain of the franchise as Pat Cummins was recovering from a back injury.
