Noor Ahmad made his first-class debut at the age of 14 and a year later signed a contract with Melbourne Renegades in Australia’s Big Bash League, making him the youngest player ever in the tournament’s history (aged 15). He later represented Karachi Kings in 2021 and finally made his international debut during a T20I against Zimbabwe in June 2022.
The left-arm wrist spinner made an immediate impact, taking a four-wicket haul (4/10, 4 overs) and was adjudged Player of the Match in his team’s 35-run victory. Ahmad further made his ODI debut the same year against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.

He was scouted by Gujarat Titans' (GT) assistant coach Aashish Kapoor while playing Under-19 cricket for Afghanistan. Ahmad was bought for Rs 30 Lakh at the IPL 2022 mega auction by GT and further cemented his status as a wicket-taking bowler with ten scalps in the Under-19 World Cup 2022 in the West Indies.

After warming the bench in 2022, he finally made his IPL debut at the age of 18 during the 2023 edition of the tournament. Ahmad had a brilliant first season for Gujarat, scalping 16 wickets from 13 innings at an average of 23.06 with best figures of 3/37, playing a pivotal role in his team's run to the final.
Ahmad formed a brilliant partnership with his compatriot Rashid Khan at GT, with the duo bamboozling batters with their variations throughout the season. He couldn’t replicate his success in the following edition in 2024, scalping just eight wickets from ten innings.
The Afghan youngster was further bought by Chennai Super Kings for a whopping Rs 10 Crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction and had his best-ever IPL season for the yellow army. Ahmad picked 24 wickets from 14 innings, finishing as the second-highest wicket-taker of the season.
After a few quiet outings, he's again finally getting into the groove in IPL 2026, and scalped a three-wicket haul against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
