Philip Dean Salt was adjudged the Player of the Match (POTM) in the clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) played at Wankhede on April 12. The English wicketkeeper batter smashed 78 off 36, pounding the MI bowling attack for six fours and as many maximums at a whopping strike rate of 216.66.
He stitched a 120-run stand alongside his opening partner Virat Kohli (50 off 38) and laid the foundation for a humongous total. RCB posted 240 for the loss of four wickets and were able to restrict Mumbai to 222, thereby winning by 18 runs.

This is Salt's fourth IPL season. Salt registered for the IPL 2023 auction at a base price of INR 2 crore and was snaffled by Delhi Capitals at the base price, as nobody else seemed interested. Salt had a decent season, scoring 218 in nine games at an average of 27.25 at a strike rate of 163.90, including two fifties.
However, Salt was subsequently released and went unsold at the 2024 auction. But fortune smiled on him as Jason Roy pulled out of the 2024 season, citing personal reasons, and Salt was roped in by KKR at his reserve auction price of INR 1.5 crore (approx $181,000).
Salt set the season ablaze and accumulated 435 runs in 12 games at an average of 39.54 and a strike rate of 182 with the help of four half-centuries. KKR released him, and he was snaffled by RCB at the 2025 auction for INR 11.50 crore.
He led the charge for RCB at the top in the previous season, aggregating 403 runs in 13 fixtures at 33.58 at a strike rate of 175.98, laced with four fifties. He played an integral role in RCB's title-winning run last year and was therefore retained for the 19th edition at the same price.
