Rishabh Pant took the cricketing world by storm when the wicketkeeper-batter first came into IPL and international cricket in 2016-17. The batter showed glimpses of his attacking and game-changing potential in IPL 2016 for Delhi Capitals although the runs column did not reflect it much. The left-hander made his debut for India in the following winter season in the T20Is and rose to the occasion in short time through impactful innings.
Pant's trajectory in international and IPL circuits in the years to come witnessed a quick and continuous rise parallelly and the swashbuckling batter became an indispensable member of his teams. Notably, in just his third IPL season in 2018, Pant amassed 684 runs in 14 innings which included his first of two IPL centuries to date.

The southpaw made his Test and ODI debuts in 2018 and his performances earned him a Grade A (INR 5 crore) central contract for the 2018-19 period. The Uttarakhand player has not gone off the list till now although there have been promotions and demotions in terms of grades in between.
When it comes to the IPL, a career-changing event occurred in the 2021 season when Pant became the interim captain for DC after full-time skipper Shreyas Iyer missed some part of the season due to injury. Pant remained at the helm even after Shreyas returned and was the full-time captain for DC until 2024 and is now for LSG since 2025.
After a forgettable first season for the Lucknow franchise in which the team finished seventh and Pant could only score 269 runs in 13 innings, IPL 2026 becomes a crucial season. The first match against his former franchise DC was another forgettable outing for both him and his team, but they made a fantastic comeback in the second match against SRH with Pant leading the chase with his masterly unbeaten 68.
