India's upcoming white-ball tour of England carries significant importance for both sides. Fresh off a disappointing 2-0 series defeat to Ireland, the reigning T20 world champions will be eager to bounce back and rediscover their winning rhythm. It has been a difficult start to Shreyas Iyer's tenure as captain, and India will be determined to put things right against a far stronger English side.

England, meanwhile, have their own challenges to overcome. The hosts are still coming to terms with the retirement of Test captain Ben Stokes, who announced his decision during the Trent Bridge Test against New Zealand. His farewell ended on a disappointing note as England lost the match and surrendered the Crowe-Thorpe Trophy to the Kiwis.

However, with a high-profile T20I series against India on the horizon, England will have little time to dwell on their recent setback. Instead, they will look to build on Ireland's blueprint and hand India another difficult assignment.

Adding another layer of intrigue to the contest, several players from both teams are on the verge of personal milestones that could be achieved during the series.

India

  • Abhishek Sharma needs just 13 runs to complete 1,500 T20I runs. He is also two sixes away from 100 T20I sixes and four boundaries short of 150 fours in T20Is.
  • Tilak Varma requires 36 runs to reach 1,500 T20I runs.
  • Sanju Samson is 96 runs away from 1,500 T20I runs and needs 86 more runs to complete 2,000 international runs.
  • Shreyas Iyer is closing in on three milestones. The India captain needs six sixes to complete 50 T20I sixes, eight fours to reach 100 T20I fours, and 37 runs to bring up 5,000 international runs.
  • Newly crowned world No. 1 T20I batter Ishan Kishan is 66 runs away from 7,000 T20 runs.
  • Axar Patel requires one wicket to become only the fourth Indian men's cricketer to claim 100 T20I wickets.
  • Virat Kohli could become only the second player in ODI history to score 15,000 ODI runs if he amasses 203 runs during the ODI series against England.
  • Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could become India's youngest international cricketer if he makes his debut during the T20I series.

England

  • Jos Buttler is 41 runs away from completing 12,500 international runs.
  • All-rounder Will Jacks needs three wickets to reach 100 T20 wickets.
  • Left-arm spinner Liam Dawson requires four wickets to complete 300 T20 wickets.
  • Rising star Jacob Bethell is 61 runs away from 2,000 T20 runs.
