India demolished Afghanistan by 127 runs in the third T20I of the three-match series on September 17 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The win helped India inflict a 3-0 clean sweep on Afghanistan. This is the 13th occasion India have inflicted a clean sweep over a team in a T20I series. The first instance was when they beat Australia 3-0 in Australia in a three-match T20I series in the lead-up to the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2016.

India's opener Abhishek Sharma was the star of the series. The southpaw smashed a record-breaking century in the third T20I, laying the foundation for India's win. Abhishek scored the fastest hundred by a player from an ICC full-member country, taking merely 30 balls to scale the milestone. He hammered 11 sixes and nine fours in his breathtaking knock at a strike rate of 317.64. He was adjudged the Player of the Match (POTM).

Abhishek was also adjudged the Player of the Series as he finished as the leading run-scorer. The 26-year-old aggregated 229 runs in three innings, averaging 76.33 at a strike rate of 269.41 with the help of a hundred and a fifty.
