Ravi Bishnoi is a nimble leg-spinner with a quick arm action and the effortless ability to test batters with his fast leg-breaks, sliders, and googlies. Bishnoi has a sincere penchant towards googlies, and his heavy reliance on that variation effectively makes him an off-spinner.

The son of a government school headmaster, the dream of pursuing cricket was anything but straightforward for Bishnoi. However, his mother’s love for the game came to his rescue, eventually leading him to age-group cricket. Bishnoi did not earn success easily, as he faltered at the Under-16 and Under-19 trials for Rajasthan. But the fire in his belly did not dim, and he kept honing his craft until success knocked on his door.

Soon after came Bishnoi’s first tryst with the Indian Premier League (IPL), as he was selected as a net bowler for Rajasthan Royals, a stint which clashed with his Class XII board exams. Bishnoi prioritised cricket and decided to stay back in Jaipur with the Royals squad, eventually making his T20 debut for Rajasthan in the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

His most prominent claim to fame came at the start of 2020, when he flew to South Africa for the 2020 Under-19 World Cup and finished as the leading wicket-taker in India’s ascent to the final with 17 scalps in six games at an average of 10.64. But he had impressed enough with his domestic circuit exploits to fly to the Rainbow Nation with an INR 2 crore IPL contract with Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in his pocket.

The success in the IPL culminated in his T20I debut in 2022 and then his ODI debut in the same year. However, Bishnoi faced stiff competition from Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, meaning he was at best a backup in the squad.

After playing with Kings XI Punjab for two seasons, Bishnoi was acquired by new franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 4 crore at the mega auction for IPL 2022. He played four seasons for them before moving to Rajasthan Royals, who bought him for INR 7.2 crore ahead of IPL 2026.
