Shardul Thakur is one of the craftiest all-rounders in the Indian Premier League (IPL). An aggressive pacer with the ability to swing the ball, Shardul doubles up as a handy batter lower down the order. Shardul is renowned for his inexplicably happy knack for picking wickets, being mysteriously reliable as a partnership breaker.
Shardul made his IPL debut in 2015 with Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), but got just one game before being released, and subsequently traded to Rising Pune Supergiant (RPSG) in 2017, when he got a consistent run in the tournament for the first time. He shifted to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the 2018 auction for INR 2.6 crore and played the next four seasons (2018-2021) with MS Dhoni’s team, winning two titles in 2018 and 2021.

Shardul then moved to Delhi Capitals (DC) after being signed for INR 10.75 crore in the 2022 auction and later traded to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of IPL 2023. He made his return to CSK in IPL 2024 before being released. He played the 2025 season with Lucknow Super Giants as a replacement player after being unsold in 2025 auction. Ahead of IPL 2026, he was traded from LSG to Mumbai Indians.
