Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) is in its final stages with just three league matches remaining in the tournament. Three out of four playoffs teams have already been finalised, leaving four teams fighting for the one final spot in the next stage of the competition.

In the history of the IPL, teams have always relied on building on good momentum right from the word go to secure their spot in the upper rungs of the IPL points table. Some teams are successful in getting on a winning streak, while some struggle to maintain consistency. Here are the top three teams with most consecutive losses in the history of the IPL:

3. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR, 8 matches, 2009 season)

Led by Brendon McCullum, KKR didn’t have a good beginning to the 2009 edition, winning just one out of their first three matches. However, after their fourth fixture against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was washed out, they went on an eight-match losing streak, before finally ending it by winning the last two matches of the season. KKR eventually finished the season last (eighth) with three wins from 14 matches, having seven points to their name.

2. Pune Warriors India (9 matches, 2013 season)

Pune started the season with successive losses before registering their first win against Rajasthan Royals (RR). They further sealed their second victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their fifth game. However, from there, they went on a nine-match losing streak before ending the season with successive wins. Pune tried as many as three captains during the season, namely Angelo Mathews, Ross Taylor and Aaron Finch. However, none of them could revive their fortunes as they finished second last (eighth) with four wins from 16 matches.

1. Delhi Capitals (11 matches, 2014-2015)

Delhi Capitals have faced the joint-worst losing streak in the rich history of the IPL, which spanned across two seasons. Under the leadership of Dinesh Karthik and Kevin Pietersen, Delhi started with two wins in the first five games in 2014 edition. However, they ended up losing their next nine fixtures to finish at the bottom with just four points from 14 games. Their losing streak continued in the following season as well, as they began with successive losses, before finally ending it with a win against Punjab Kings.

1. Pune Warriors India (11 matches, 2012-2013)

Under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly, Pune had a good beginning to their campaign in 2012, winning three out of the first four matches. It took them three more games to register their third victory. However, following that, they went on an 11-match losing streak, which extended into the following season as well. A victory against Rajasthan Royals in 2013 edition finally brought an end to Pune’s agony, but by then, they had already achieved the ignominious feat against their name.
