ENG vs WI, 15th Match, Group C - Live Commentary

ICC Men's T20 World Cup, 2026 11, Feb 2026, 05:30 PM Wankhede Stadium

That will be all from us. We hope you enjoyed our coverage, and until next time, it is goodbye from all of us.

Sherfane Rutherford, Player of the Match: (On his injury) My finger is good, hopefully will be better for the next game. One of the biggest challenges was Rashid. In our meetings, we knew he would be a tough bowler, so was just trying to keep him out of the game and then make up at the end. I have been putting in a lot of work. Once I trust the process and read the situation, I can always score at the end. Was about playing with a clear mind and with intent. We were 10 runs behind (par score). But the guys stood up well and bowled well today. This win means a lot. (On Hetmyer, Shepherd and him already shining) It is good for our country coming into the spotlight. Cricket is a team sport and hopefully other guys can put their hands up, and we can keep improve collectively. You want to ensure we keep the momentum. Hopefully we can keep going better.

Shai Hope, West Indies captain: Just happy that the guys got over the line. We have been playing some good cricket in patches, good to have more of a complete game today. (On Chase) He is a versatile player and someone you can depend on in most situations. Great to see him come in and take some crucial wickets, and exactly what we required. We wanted him to stabilize it (the batting innings) a bit. Good to see he can come in and stabilize the innings for us. These guys have been playing well the past couple of months. Sherfane has been exceptional. In the second innings, the ball gets to tend wet. Not very wet as it can be (today). (On Motie and his wrist-spin variations) When you get some time off, you have to see if you can improve and elevate your game. He has brought something else to his game. Great to see he is continuing to progress and do well for the West Indies.

Harry Brook, England captain: We probably thought it was chaseable. Did not dew up as much as we were expected. Thought we had a chance definitely. (On Rashid) That is the Adil everyone knows and loves. He really lobbed it up there, gave them a chance to hit it but with his skill, he kept his figures down and got a couple of crucial wickets too. Jacks is an amazing bowler, but we did not quite execute as well as we could have. T20 is such a fickle game. Salt had an amazing start. Whenever he gets going, it is going to be amazing to watch and everyone knows what Buttler can do. We thought the spinners would slide on a bit more. We go back, have a reflection and then go again. Thank God we won against Nepal (smiles). We play Scotland and Italy. Go back to the basics and let’s see how we go.

A brilliant bowling display by the West Indies. There were several moments when England threatened to turn this run-chase their way, like when Salt teed off at the top, or when Bethell was going great guns, but England just could not muster a rearguard action long enough to thwart their opponents.

Whenever they needed a moment, they found it, with their spinners front and centre of their charge. Motie bagged three, with Chase picking up two wickets. Hosein was not shabby either, with Holder and Joseph then nailing their lengths at the death to ensure that West Indies' spotless record remains intact.

Shamar Joseph to Adil Rashid

Shamar Joseph to Adil Rashid, no run, Shamar Joseph lands the final blow, and England have been outdone at the Wankhede Stadium by the West Indies! Full toss slanting into middle and leg. Rashid tries to whip it away but it does not have the legs to clear the fence. Chase, stood at deep backward square leg, lunges forward and he is confident that he has picked this up inches off the turf. Seems like he might have a case too but the third umpire has been pressed into action. Replays suggest the fingers are under the ball, and the third umpire agrees too. A moment of fielding magic to finish the game, and the West Indies go 2-0 at this T20 World Cup!

Rashid has to play in even numbers here. But he cannot get out either. 31 off 7

Curran calls Dawson through for the second, and Dawson is struggling at the bowler's end. Joseph collects Holder's throw and even through Dawson sprawled, that was to be in vain!
