The Indian Premier League (IPL) has transformed the lives of many cricketers, as the tournament has witnessed several rags-to-riches stories. Over the years, there have been many lesser-known players who’ve gone on to earn fat cheques from franchises, which have completely turned their lives.
While most players make their families financially secure through their IPL earnings, a few stars have also made some luxurious purchases for themselves. Here are three players and their luxurious purchases from their IPL earnings:
1. Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj’s life turned overnight when he was signed for Rs 2.60 Crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the IPL 2017. Since then, Siraj has become one of the leading fast bowlers in the country, having guided both India and his IPL franchises to several victories. After receiving his first IPL pay cheque, the cricketer first bought an iPhone 7 Plus and a second-hand Corolla car.
2. Rinku Singh
The Kolkata Knight Riders’ batter became a household name after smashing Yash Dayal for five successive sixes to help his team register an improbable victory against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023. Rinku Singh started his IPL career with a salary of Rs 10 Lakh and is currently earning Rs 13 crore. Coming from a humble background, the most luxurious purchase Rinku made from his IPL salary was buying a villa for his family in Aligarh.
3. Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya became the most in-demand player of the country quite early in his career due to his rare all-round skills. He was bought for Rs 10 lakh by Mumbai Indians (MI) for IPL 2015 and was retained for 11 crore in 2018.
Before earning his first IPL cheque, Pandya had struggled to pay EMIs for his car. Hence, after his earnings skyrocketed, he bought himself a wide range of luxurious cars, with his garage full of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce, among others.
