UAE national women’s cricket team head coach Ahmed Raza has stepped down from his position, bringing an end to his tenure with the side. The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the development and expressed its appreciation for Raza's contribution to the growth of the women's game.

In an official statement, the ECB congratulated Raza on his outstanding work and wished him success in the next chapter of his coaching career.

"UAE National Women’s cricket Team Head Coach Ahmed Raza has resigned from the role. The Emirates Cricket Board congratulates Ahmed on his stellar work and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours," the board posted on its X account.

Ahmed Raza transitioned into coaching after retiring from professional cricket in March 2023 and accepted a role with the Emirates Cricket Board.

He was later appointed head coach of the UAE women's team and recently guided the side to qualification for the Asia Cup 2026 through a successful campaign in Malaysia earlier this month.

Ahmed Raza's successful tenure as head coach

UAE earned qualification after beating Malaysia in the third quarter-final of the ACC Women's Premier Cup 2026. They further beat Hong Kong by ten wickets in the semi-final but came short in the summit clash against Thailand, suffering a six-wicket defeat.

With Raza at the helm, women's cricket in the UAE made significant strides, with the national team also attaining One-Day International (ODI) status for the first time last year. The team also impressed in its maiden ODI series, securing a draw against Zimbabwe.

During his playing days, Raza was a left-arm spinner and made his debut for the UAE in 2014. He went on to play 53 ODIs and 55 T20Is and scalped 101 wickets.

Meanwhile, the Emirates Cricket Board is expected to announce Raza's successor in the coming days.
