Aiman Anwer announces retirement from international cricket to become match referee

Pakistan fast bowler Aiman Anwer has announced her retirement from international cricket. Anwer made her international debut on July 5, 2016, in a T20I against England in Southampton, becoming the 37th player to feature for Pakistan in the format.

Coincidentally, she also played 37 T20Is for her country, scalping 29 wickets at an average of 29.44 with best figures of 3/30. She also played eight ODIs for Pakistan and took four wickets.

Her final international appearance came during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa against West Indies. Anwer was also part of Pakistan’s squads at the Women’s T20 World Cups in 2018, 2020 and 2023.

She also played in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 in New Zealand, where her final ODI appearance for Pakistan came against England during the league stage.

Anwer announced her retirement through a post on social media and reflected on her memories with pride.

Meanwhile, after announcing her retirement, she will start a new chapter as a match referee. Anwer recently made her debut as a match referee in the ongoing Under-19 women's tournament in Karachi. However, she will continue to play in local tournaments and leagues.
