Former India wrist spinner Amit Mishra has joined Delhi Capitals (DC) as the spin bowling coach ahead of the Indian Premier League 2027 (IPL 2027). He will join Sourav Ganguly (head coach), Yuvraj Singh (Assistant coach) and Chaminda Vaas (Fast bowling coach) as the franchise continues to revamp its coaching staff.
Mishra is counted amongst the greatest bowlers to have ever played in the IPL, having 174 wickets to his name from 162 matches at an average of 23.82 and an economy of 7.37. He also holds the record for scalping most hat-tricks in the tournament’s history (three).
All three of his hat-tricks came for different teams, Delhi Daredevils in 2008, Deccan Chargers in 2011 and Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013.
The veteran wrist spinner was associated with Delhi since the inception of the IPL in 2008 and played 10 of his seasons with them. His last season in the tournament came in 2024 with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Delhi Capitals once again failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs in the 2026 season, finishing sixth on the points table with seven wins from 14 matches, having 14 points to their name.
Rishabh Pant returns to Delhi Capitals
They will look for a fresh start in the upcoming season, following the return of Rishabh Pant to the franchise. The wicketkeeper-batter has been traded back to DC from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a revised fee of INR 15 crore.
DC haven't qualified for the playoffs in their last four seasons and are yet to win an IPL title, with their best performance being the runners-up finish in 2020.
