Asian Games 2026: Bangladesh women advance to semi-finals after washout against China

Bangladesh have qualified for the semi-finals of the Asian Games 2026 women's cricket event after their quarter-final fixture against China was washed out on Thursday, September 17, at Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin. Not a single delivery was bowled due to inclement weather during the fixture as Bangladesh progressed by virtue of higher seeding.

It was the opening clash as well as the first quarter-final of the Asian Games women’s cricket event. Bangladesh will now take on either India or Japan, who will lock horns in the fourth quarter-final at the same venue. 

The match was also delayed by a wet outfield and eventually called off without the toss. The women’s tournament directly began with the quarter-final stage, with two matches scheduled for Thursday and two more on Friday. Pakistan will take on Thailand in the second quarter-final on Thursday. On the other hand, Malaysia will face Sri Lanka in the third quarter-final, and India will take on Japan in the fourth, with both matches scheduled on September 18.

The semi-finals are scheduled for September 20, with the final set for September 22. All matches will be played at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, on the outskirts of Nagoya, Japan. Meanwhile, the men’s tournament is scheduled to begin on September 24.
