Match overview
Australia’s spirited comeback was on full display in Chattogram on Sunday (June 21) as the former T20 world champions hammered Bangladesh by seven wickets in the third T20I, sealing a 3-0 series sweep.
Bangladesh struggle with the bat
Skipper Towhid Hridoy opted to bat first, hoping to put scoreboard pressure on the visitors in the final game. But the hosts faltered badly, managing just 109/8 in 20 overs. Hridoy fought a lone battle, scoring an unbeaten 61 off 51 balls with three fours and three sixes, while wickets tumbled around him. Only Rishad Hossain (16 off 14) was the other one to reach double figures, highlighting the dominance of Australia’s attack.

Aussie bowlers shine
- Spencer Johnson was the standout, returning astonishing figures of 2/6 in four overs at an economy of just 1.50.
- Nathan Ellis reinforced his reputation as Australia’s premier T20 pacer, striking twice and finishing with 2/21 in four overs.
- Adam Zampa proved equally difficult to handle, bagging 2/22 with his clever variations.
Marsh leads the charge
Chasing 110 was never going to be a challenge, and skipper Mitchell Marsh made sure of it. He blasted 60 off 28 balls, peppering the boundary with seven fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 214.28. His opening stand of 54 with Josh Inglis (17 off 16) set the tone for a dominant chase.
Though Marsh fell in the ninth over to Shoriful Islam, the damage was already done. He was adjudged the Player of the Match (POTM) for his whirlwind knock.

Matt Renshaw (6* off 6) and Tim David (12* off 3) finished the job, powering Australia to victory with 54 balls to spare, their first‑ever clean sweep over Bangladesh in T20Is. Renshaw was named the Player of the Series for scoring 113 runs, averaging 113 and at a strike rate of 131.39.

Player of the Match
Mitchell Marsh
Mitchell Marsh foiled every plan that Bangladesh had discussed during the mid-innings break. The Australia captain had the measure of every Bangladesh bowler and was in no mood to relent.
Turning Point
Bangladesh's underwhelming performance with the willow in hand turned the game in Australia's favour. 109 was never going to be challenging enough for the Aussies, and it reflected in the outcome.
What did the captains say:
Winning Captain, Mitchell Marsh (Australia)
"Nice to leave this series 3-0. Really proud of the boys, great effort. (On the pitch) thought we executed well. Not sure how I got POTM - Spencer bowled four overs for six runs (smiles). Thought we were fantastic with the ball today. Had some guys debuting, some coming back after a long time and contributing really well - great team to be around."
Losing Captain, Towhid Hridoy (Bangladesh)
"(What went wrong) At the beginning, we lost a couple of wickets and if you lose wickets, it becomes difficult to score. I tried my best and to execute my plan. Not that hard, wicket was good, we did not play well. We needed partnerships, if we got partnerships, we could have got to 170-180."
