Bangladesh are just three wickets away from a historic series win on home soil as the second Test in Sylhet moves into day five. Bangladesh haven't defeated Pakistan in a Test series on home turf before. Therefore, they have a wonderful opportunity to rewrite their history books on Thursday (May 20).
Day 4 began on a positive note for the Bangla Tigers after they dismissed both Azan Awais (21) and Abdullah Fazal (6) cheaply. Skipper Shan Masood and Babar Azam then added 92 for the third wicket and weathered the storm. While Shan was a bit watchful, Babar played his strokes and looked fluent.

Babar scored 47 off 52 before he edged a ball from Taijul Islam down the leg side, straight into the gloves of wicketkeeper Litton Das. Babar's wicket worked as an injection of momentum into the veins of the hosts, and they got two more wickets instantly. Nahid Rana accounted for Saud Shakeel, and Taijul dismissed Shan.
Shan's wicket was a result of supreme alertness and agility shown by Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who stayed low and steady and grabbed a remarkable catch at short leg.

Shan's wicket reduced Pakistan to 162/5, and just when it looked like the hosts were going to wrap the game soon, Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha stitched a brilliant partnership and turned the tide.
Agha and Rizwan added 134 runs for the sixth wicket and almost gave the impression that there were no demons in the surface. Agha scored 71 off 102 with the help of six fours and a six and played the Bangladesh spinners very late, cautious of the turn on offer from the surface.
Rizwan, on the other hand, was a bit tentative right at the start but eased into his innings as he got the measure of the surface. Exasperated with the partnership, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto threw the new ball to Taijul, and he delivered again.
Taijul got one to straighten after pitching and impregnated Agha's defence to rattle his timber and snap the stand. He wasted no time and got Hasan Ali caught at first slip to give a double whammy to the tourists late in the day.

Fortunately for Pakistan, Rizwan (75*) remained unbeaten with Sajid Khan (9*) at the close of play, and the tourists will be rooting for him to help them get the remaining 121 runs on the final day.
