Bangladesh announce squad for Asian Games 2026

Bangladesh have announced a full-strength squad for the upcoming men's cricket competition at the Asian Games. Skipper Litton Das will lead the side. Towhid Hridoy will be his deputy.

Bangladesh, alongside India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, have been given direct entry in the quarter-finals. Oman, Hong Kong, Nepal, Afghanistan, Japan, and Malaysia will be up against each other in the preliminary round to secure their places in the knockout stage. A total of 10 teams will compete in the men’s tournament for the coveted gold medal. 

The squad shared by the Bangla Tigers has a solid pace battery. Left-arm seamers Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam, and right-arm pacers Mohammad Saifuddin and Hasan Mahmud will shoulder the responsibilities of the pace-bowling department.

They also have a robust spin-bowling reserve. Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, Nassum Ahmed, Mahedi Hasan and Mossadek Hossain are all vastly experienced and can play match-defining roles if the pitch at the Aichi Prefectural Korogi Sports Park located in Nisshin City.

Litton Das is one of the most successful captains for Bangladesh in their T20I history. He has led them in 31 T20Is with 16 wins and 14 losses. His win percentage (51.61%) is also the highest among captains who have led the side on 10 or more occasions in the shortest format of the game.
