Bangladesh have unveiled their squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series against Afghanistan and Zimbabwe to be played in the UAE. Mystery spinner Aliss Al Islam, who has played one T20I for Bangladesh in the recent Asian Games men’s cricket event, has earned his maiden ODI call-up.
Islam has been rewarded for his impressive performances in the recent domestic competitions. The off-spinner has taken 35 wickets in 19 List A games at an average of 17.05 and an economy rate of 4.05. Senior batter Litton Das also marks his return to the team as captain after being appointed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in July, replacing Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
The board has decided to give Mehidy a break from leadership to make him focus on his all-round skills. Fast bowler Hasan Mahmud returns to the ODI squad while Nahid Rana continues his rehab for a side strain. Rana last featured in the T20I series against Zimbabwe in July 2026 and has since missed the Test series in Australia, the Asian Games in Japan, and the ongoing one-off Test against Afghanistan.
The speedster is being managed carefully by the selectors, with an all-format tour of South Africa coming up next month. Bangladesh will begin their campaign against Zimbabwe in the opening match of the ODI tri-series on October 17 in Abu Dhabi.
Bangladesh ODI squad for tri-series: Litton Das (capt), Towhid Hridoy, Tanzid Hasan, Saif Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mosaddek Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nurul Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Tanvir Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam, Aliss Al Islam
