Bangladesh captain Litton Das has been ruled out of the ongoing tri-nation series against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. Stand-in skipper Towhid Hridoy gave an update on Das’ injury at the toss ahead of the first fixture against Zimbabwe.

Hridoy revealed that Das had suffered a hip injury, which has ruled him out of the tournament. Bangladesh are also without Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who has been suffering from fever for the last three days.

“I would have liked to bat, but the wicket looks like fresh, so we'll try to get advantage from this wicket. [On Litton missing out] He has some injury issue, that's why. [Team combination] We have three pace bowlers and two spinners, so hopefully we'll do better. [On preparations for the 2027 WC] Every match is important for us, not only the World Cup. We have Asia Cup in our home, so it's a good time to prepare ourselves very well,” said Hridoy at the toss.

Meanwhile, Hasan Mahmud marks his return to the ODI side after 12 months as Zimbabwe’s stand-in captain won the toss and opted to bat first.
