Not everything seems hunky dory inside the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), as three of its directors tendered their resignations following a board meeting that lasted several hours in Dhaka on Saturday. Notably, the meeting was chaired by President Aminul Islam, with Vice-President Faruque Ahmed in attendance. Ahmed joined online as he was unwell.

Faiazur Rahman, Shanian Taneem, and Mehrab Alam are the latest to step down from their roles, taking the count of the board of directors to have resigned in under six months of BCB elections to six.

Interestingly, the previous three resignations also came this year. Ishtiaque Sadeque marked the beginning of the pattern in January, citing personal reasons. He was followed by Amzad Hossain, who stepped down in March after he was sacked as the media chairman, and Yasir Mohammed Faysal, a government-nominated director, left his office last Thursday.

Mohammad Mokhsedul Kamal, the newly appointed media chairman, conducted a press briefing after the meeting and addressed the press about the resignations.

"We haven't discussed this at the board. Those who resigned cited personal reasons for their decision," Kamal was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. "It is their personal decision. The one you are mentioning [Faiazur], he attended the meeting with us. We heard the news that he resigned after the meeting."

BCB extends captaincy tenures of Mehidy Hasan and Litton Das

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has extended the captaincy tenures of allrounder Mehidy Hasan in ODIs and wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das in T20Is. Mehidy will continue to lead the team through to the upcoming ODI World Cup to be played in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe next year, whereas Litton will remain the skipper in the shortest format of the game until the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2028.

The decision is expected to bring a sense of calm and continuity inside both dressing rooms as Bangladesh hope to punch above their weight in the forthcoming ICC events after withdrawing from the recently concluded edition of the T20 World Cup, played in India and Sri Lanka.
