Team India’s winless streak after their historic ICC Men’s T20 World Cup triumph on home soil has left the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) "deeply concerned".

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed that the board is worried about the Men in Blue’s recent performances in the T20I format. He revealed that a review meeting with skipper Shreyas Iyer and head coach Gautam Gambhir will be held after the England series to identify fault lines and chart a corrective path forward.

“We are deeply concerned about the Indian team’s performance, and once this series is over we will definitely have a review with the captain and coach to understand what is going wrong and will rectify the problems soon so we can regain our stature,” Saikia told India Today.

From World Cup glory to a rude awakening

India’s reign of dominance, capped by their World Cup win earlier this year, has quickly given way to a harsh reality. The two‑match T20I series against Ireland, expected to be a straightforward assignment, turned into a nightmare as Ireland stunned India 2‑0, their first‑ever series victory against the Men in Blue across formats.

Shaken by that setback, India were expected to bounce back in England. Instead, the struggles have deepened. After the series opener in Chester‑le‑Street was washed out, India have slumped to three consecutive defeats and now face the prospect of a 4‑0 drubbing.

Pride and redemption at stake

With the series already gone, India’s immediate challenge is to salvage pride in the final T20I at Southampton. A win would not only prevent a humiliating whitewash but also offer a glimmer of redemption at the end of a bruising tour. A loss to England in Southampton would also end India's reign at the top of the ICC Men's T20I team rankings.
