Matt Fisher has been left out of the England squad for the third and final Test of the ongoing three‑match series against Pakistan. Brydon Carse also remains excluded from the red‑ball setup as an investigation continues into allegations of an assault in Derby city centre related to his arrest and subsequent release.
Carse, 31, was arrested for being under the influence and behaving disruptively following Durham’s win over Derbyshire in the County Championship. The Cricket Regulator is currently investigating the nightclub incident, and the Durham pacer continues to remain on the sidelines.
England captain Joe Root expressed deep disappointment over Carse’s conduct and urged his teammates to be mindful of their behaviour both on and off the field.
“We have already had conversations as a team on what is expected from this group of players, what it means to play for England, what it takes to play for England,” Root said. “We want supporters to look at us and not just revere what we do on the field but off it as well. Over the next little while as leader of this team, with Stephen [Fleming] and the group of players themselves [the challenge] is to make something that is just that,” he said.
England squad for third Test:
Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Sonny Baker, Shoaib Bashir, Harry Brook, Sam Cook, Jordan Cox, Ben Duckett, Emilio Gay, Dan Lawrence, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root (captain), Jamie Smith (wk), Josh Tongue.
